Vinayak Devang Dar
PERSONALITY A well-sorted Aer student, Vinayak's most defining trait is his massive intelligence. He excels naturally at all academic pursuits, and he gets great joy out of nurturing his intellect. Vinayak is a kind and generous person, but he tends to be very reserved due to the scars left by years of being mistreated by "real" Americans. He does, however, like to party; alcohol just seems to push away the sadness and the sense of isolation. One of Vinayak's biggest struggles is the fact that he finds himself attracted not only to girls, but also to other guys. Thus far, he has done a decent job of shoving away those feelings, but on some level he knows that he's just turning himself into a ticking time bomb. He is incredibly nervous about this fact, but he doesn't feel as though there is anybody he could confess his feelings to. HISTORY Vinayak was born in Calcutta, but his parents immigrated to New York when he was only a few years old. His parents were wealthy in India - his father is a doctor - but they are merely middle-class in the United States. Even so, they were always well able to provide for their son. Unfortunately, throughout his early years attending muggle school, Vinayak was often mocked and beaten up due to the fact that his skin is brown rather than white. The administrators at the school barely seemed to notice him or respect him as a human being. It was incredibly difficult for him to come to terms with the fact that America, the land of unending opportunity, was actually the land of horrible prejudice against foreigners. His father faced incredible challenges finding a position as a doctor in the United States, but fortunately, he was successful after several years of struggle. Even so, Vinayak experienced great turmoil and anger related to how his father was mistreated. His letter from Cascade brought great change into Vinayak's life, and most of it was positive. After all, magical folks were slightly less likely to judge him based on the color of his skin and his slight accent. Unfortunately for Vinayak, it's still New York in 1922, so he still faces a good deal of discrimination in his everyday life. Did you read the rules? Destiel is forever!! |
