Elek hesitated before knocking on Pietro's door, uncharacteristically nervous he adjusted his glasses and waited for the other man to open his door. His accent was heavier when agitated and he took a few deep breaths to steady himself, knowing that the mix of Hungarian and British could be hard to decipher. The door remained closed with no signs of life on the other end and Elek gritted his teeth, blinked hard, and straightened his jacket. Okay, he could do this, he had no reason to be nervous. None. "Pietro?" he rolled the 'r' too harshly though he paid no mind to it. "Pietro, it's Elek. I need to speak with you about some business I took care of last night."

Well, Pietro had slept in thoroughly. What was wrong with him?
Oh, of course. Just yesterday ... here in this bed ... he couldn't keep the smile off his face. Serafina ...
Unfortunately, duty was calling in the form of a knock, and now Elek's familiar voice mentioning something that sounded terribly serious. Pietro dragged himself out of bed, calling out that he was coming. He pulled on some pants, rubbed his hands over his heavy eyes, and opened the door.
Elek looked ... uncomfortable. Nervous, or something. Pietro didn't like it when people looked so concerned after performing family business. "Please, come in," Pietro murmured, closing the door behind his visitor. A flick of his wand, and he had coffee brewing. "Sit down and tell me what has happened."

Elek wrinkled his nose as he entered the apartment before looking back to Pietro, then giving the apartment a quick scan to make sure they were truly alone. He followed the formalities, sat where he was offered a seat and shifted in his seat. "You do know about my... condition," he began earnestly, looking from his hands to Pietro and back, if anything made him uncomfortable it discussing his lycanthropy with people who had power over him, like Pietro, for example. He was aware the Don knew and didn't appear to mind, in fat seemed to embrace it, though he wasn't sure how far the news had travelled down the grapevine. "Because I might have transmitted it."

"Yes, I am aware," Pietro replied with a nod and a small smile, hoping to set Elek at ease. Unfortunately, that effort didn't last long, because the second part of Elek's statement was, to be frank, intensely terrifying. Pietro's smile turned into a frown, and he leaned forward in his seat, pressing his hands against the table to keep them from wringing together with concern.
"You may have ... all right. We can deal with this. Tell me everything, and we will solve the problem." No panic, no stress. They would simply remain calm and fix what may have gone wrong. That was the only option.

As Pietro began to repeat his words, Elek held his gaze. He looked to see a sign of disgust, annoyance, some inkling of anything remotely lycanthrophobic, but nothing of the sort arose as Pietro swallowed down any sort of personal emotional reaction and moved along with intellect, ease, and a sense of genuine compassion. Elek cleared his throat glanced to his soiled nails, and then back to Pietro where his eyes would stay for the duration of their conversation. "The target's been eliminated, that is of no concern, what is of concern though is the fact I woke up with a taste of human blood in my teeth which does not match last night's hunt, if you will indulge the metaphor. I have retraced my steps and there was a trail, I went out of control, I let the wolf go to far and I apologize. I don't know if the victim has survived, who they are, all I do know is that it is a witch female in her formative years."

Pietro listened, nodding along, careful to keep his face calm and composed. This was, of course, a very serious issue, but he didn't want to discourage Elek's honesty by placing blame. There were things that happened sometimes, things that people couldn't necessarily control, and it was always better to remain calm and focus on how to proceed. Panic and blame were simply unproductive.
"All right. That narrows it down considerably. She is likely a student at the school. Given that it only happened last night, it should be a fairly simple matter to determine whether any students are missing or newly injured. We will speak with my uncle, and then you and I will both observe the students carefully.
"You have shown considerable professionalism by telling me this so quickly. From what I understand, your measure of control is incredible, and the occasional lapse does not detract from that. You prove yourself loyal and trustworthy through your honesty, and I thank you for it. If my uncle gives you difficulty, I will speak up on your behalf.
"We should go talk to him together, and now."

Elek nodded, though he didn't fully agree with Pietro. There was a reason he came here first, and not to someone else. There was a reason he had decided to have this confidence in Pietro, and now his hopes were shattered. He swallowed, stood and respectfully clasped his hands behind his back. "Before that, I am going to tell you, if she has indeed survived, I don't want her exterminated." He held the other man's gaze with confidence as he stated his opinion and a kind, though firm manner. "This is a condition that can be managed, contained, even if dealt with properly. I'm aware I... have not shown that, with last night's incident. But this is because I suppressed myself these past two lunar cycles. I do not know if you will side with me, in fact, I think if he decides differently your loyalties will lie with him, as they justly should, I am just telling you, Pietro, in advance, this is what I believe. And I will argue - not fight - for her right to a life, if need be."

Pietro's gaze dropped to where his hands were gripping the tabletop. Of course, he understood the desire not to have her exterminated, and he was in full agreement. Unfortunately, Uncle Enzo would likely fall on the opposite end of the spectrum. Pietro knew what kind of a man his uncle was, and though he felt respect and admiration for him, he found himself in disagreement with Enzo more and more often of late.
But he couldn't say a damn thing. He couldn't risk losing his position. He couldn't be unfaithful to his family. He couldn't keep this information from Uncle Enzo.
As he stood up and began to make his way to the door, Pietro said, "I understand your perspective. I agree with you, and I will do everything I can to convince Uncle Enzo to respect and comply with your point of view. I am also appreciative of the fact that you understand my ... unique position. I give you my word, Elek, that I will do the best I can to do right by this student if it turns out that she survived your ... encounter."
