Theo hated to brag... but he was pretty smart.
That as the one thing his father could never take away from him. He could be yelled at for everything really, his grades, being a little more... Feminine, but not his grades. He always brought home top marks in the school only next to Serafina. Which you know never bugged him she was a great girl and he loved studying with her. He felt like she really challenged him when it came to his schooling, otherwise he might end up coasting along, which he could do if he wanted to he was already accepted to the university he always dreamed of going to. But still he would love to finish the year as the second top student.
He kind of accepted that he's not going to beat serafine this year.
So like they have done for the last few years he was meeting her in the library for their bi-weekly study session. He was already there and waiting, books and notes and all. Hopefully she would be here soon.

Curses, she was running late for her study date with one of her dearest friends from over the years. Pietro had kept her late to help "grade a few papers" in the storage closet at the back of the classroom once her fellow students had left, and she couldn't exactly turn down her duty as a teacher assistant, could she? Surely Theo would understand once she explained herself, and truthfully, she hoped he would because she was rather excited to see him. This was their first meeting this year seeing as they had to get settled in during the first week, so it had been all summer since she had seen him.
Slipping into the library in a hurry, she zig-zagged between towering bookshelves and other students until she reached their quiet study table towards the back of the library. It was tucked away in a little book for the ultimate studying sessions, and once she finally showed up around the corner, she had to blow a few strands of hair from her face.
"Theo! I'm so sorry I was late," she said somewhat breathlessly. She moved around the table to throw her arms around her friend in a tight hug, smiling warmly as she did so. "Professor Holland kept me late with catching up on some paperwork, but goodness, I've missed you!"

He tapped his quill against the page and sighed some. Where in the world was this girl? He didn't want to start without her but he was sort of wasting important studying time the longer he just sat here and didn't do anything. Maybe she was still sitting in class getting all gaga eyed over Professor Holland again. The last probably ended and she was still probably in her seat just staring at him. God what was wrong with that girl? Theo would admit he was an attractive man... Sinful thought he could pray for it later. But he still a teacher at the end of the day, and she was down right obsessed with him. All he was saying is she better be careful or people might wonder.
But finally she did rush in and Theo couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when she gave her excuse for being late. "Huh that unfortunateS but hey you are here now and for that I'm glad." She hugged him and he hugged her back before taking his seat. "I've missed you too. Did you have a good summer?" You know everytime he see Serafina again after a long summer the same thought runs though his mind. Why couldn't he like here? Why couldn't he take her home and love her and make his parents happy. No he was forever suck crushing on a man that cannot love him back for fear of being killed. It would just be so much easier if he could like Sera...
