Aaron hummed happily as he gingerly arranged the pots around the tables he haphazardly set up. Tables, he thought idly, had their uses. None of them were in a garden. He peered in at the Jewelweed growing off to the side and smiled fondly. Sure, it wasn't the most interesting of plants, but the potions master did need it to grow, and it did have its applications. Plus, it was fascinating. But he thought that about most species of plant.
He hummed in amusement and turned to check in on his other plants. All seemed to be growing beautifully. He barely registered his students filing in for the day until one of them coughed. He jumped, a bit startled, but turned around and cast a brilliant smile on all of them. It was easy to be a teacher, he mused as he walked to the front of the green house. He just had to think of his students as seedlings that needed a guided hand.
"Nice seeing you all show up!" He chirruped as he rounded on them. He ran a hand through his hair. "Today, we will begin with Fanged Geraniums. Now, peer in at the plant, but don't touch! They haven't been fed yet today." He gestured excitedly at the plants. "Now who can tell me about this plant?"

Annabel walked into the classroom and took her set, the sunlight was streaming into the greenhouse and she smiled at the sight. What a lovley day and everyone sitting around here felt so happy as well. Well there was a few people that were bored and someone that was terribly upset about something or other and from the look on their face it probably had to do with their home life poor thing she wished she could help. But she was no good at helping the living, only the dead and there were no dead in this room to help right now. It was spirit free for the most part. There were a few souls that wanted her to give messages to to living but she had learned not to do that during class, it weird everyone out.
Professor Winston greeted them with a cheerful hello and she smiled back. He was such a good man really, cared about his students and wanted them to do well. Such a warm energy in him that she really admired. He asked about the plant that was sitting in front of them, Fanged Geraniums. Something she had spend all last year helping to grow so she knew all about them but she couldn't speak up in front of all these people so she kept her head down and didn't say anything.
Because herbology might be her favourite subject next to potion but it didn't mean that she didn't want to speak out in front of the whole class. What if she was wrong and then that would give everyone another reason to make fun of her which was the last thing she wanted. They already thought she was crazy they didn't need to think that she was stupid as well.

Everything was fine. Really. He hadn't kissed another man. That was ridiculous, absurd. Vinayak would never do such a thing. Such things were wrong, sick and evil and hideous. He was not an abomination. He was not an abomination. Really. So what if his eyes were red and puffy? He hadn't slept well. He'd been doing homework all night. He'd been drinking and smoking marijuana amidst a pile of beautiful women. He certainly had not been crying his eyes out, terrified that a bolt of lightning would smite him into ashes. Who would do that? Only a sicko would do that. Only a sicko who kissed other men. That wasn't him. No, not at all, not a bit. He hadn't done it!
Fanged ... what now? Oh ... geraniums. Fanged geraniums. He knew this. He could say something about this. He was still the same bookish Aer student he had always been. Vinayak raised his hand.
"They are grown for their fangs. The fangs are powerful potion ingredients. And they're used in cooking, too."
All right, yes, that was fine, just fine. Each moment that passed was another moment that he hadn't been struck down for his horrible sin.

Mary couldn't help but notice that Vinayak looked different today. His eyes were strange.
Mary certainly didn't have many friends, but she had always gotten along well with Vinayak. After all, they were both outcasts. She felt great respect for him, and he was kind to her. She didn't like seeing him look so sad. She would have to talk to him after class, try to get him to feel better. Something had obviously happened that had caused him great distress.
Even so, he was quick to participate in the class discussion, and Mary shook her head to clear the concern and gather her focus for the lesson. Professor Winston was highly intelligent, and Mary preferred him to the old Herbology professor who had retired at the end of the previous year. She looked up at her teacher, quill poised and at the ready.

Aaron smiled excitedly when the student answered the question. "Yes!" He said excitedly. "Very good, Mister, ah," he checked the name sheet. "Dar." He wasn't sure how to reward the student. He'd merely glanced at the rules, going over what was very important. Did they have points like back home? Ah, why was he such a scatter-brain? He gave a shake of his head and looked around at his students. They looked back at him expectantly.
Right he was supposed to be teaching. He wet his lips and gave a small cough before he began his lecture. He paced around the greenhouse as he spoke, correcting a student's spelling here and there, and getting more and more excited as he spoke. This, he decided happily, was his second favorite thing to do, besides gardening. And really the two things weren't so different. Helping minds to grow really was like helping a seed to sprout and bloom.
"Now for the next week, you each will be taking care of these little biters." He stroked the leaf of one of them fondly, snapping his hand back when it lurched for his fingers. "And I want a record on when you fed them and what else you did to help it grow. The student with the healthiest geranium at the end of this week will receive a prize." He smiled around at the students.
