The whole day felt like it was building up to this. To be honest she felt rather drain, there had been alot of meeting new people and family and just... it was all very overwhelming really. She never expected her wedding day to make her feel like this... She was happy of course, to be a wife to a good man. But she was not bursting at the seems happy like she wanted to be, she was... Nervous mostly. Would Pietro even want to touch her tonight? Like her had he been thinking about another person the whole night the way she had been? Not that she meant to it was just hard because she had dreamed of it being this one man for so long and now it wasn't. Now it was someone else, who yes was very sweet and kind but still wasn't the man she had always dreamed of.
She wasn't this man's cinderella and she never would be.
After spending a rather long time hugging Duilio she finally said goodnight to him as Pietro took her to where they would be living. You know she was very happy to be away from everyone now. It was alot of attention she was not all that use to, so once the door was close the first thing she did was take out her hair because all the pins had been digging into her hair the whole night and she was about to breath a small sigh of relief. That was so much better.

Pietro understood the look in Duilio's eyes, and he respected it. Pietro would eventually give the same look to whomever married Suki. It said, quite clearly, I can and will fuck you up. Beyond appreciating what it said about Duilio's character, it didn't matter to Pietro. He didn't have to worry. He would never harm Mariella, unless extreme awkwardness counted as spousal abuse.
"I am sorry about all of the strangers," he offered as they drove to his home. Now that he was married, Pietro wasn't supposed to live at the school anymore. Instead, he had a house near Uncle Enzo's mansion.
It wasn't as though he could control the number of relatives he had, but he still felt for her. It must have been an incredibly overwhelming day. Everything about this must be overwhelming. As he drove, he racked his brain: What was he supposed to do? On the one hand, they were husband and wife now, so tradition would suggest that they should consummate the marriage. On the other hand, they were both grieving dead lovers, and he certainly didn't want to start off their marriage by making her feel as though his sexual gratification was more important to him than her happiness.
Honestly, at this point, Pietro could go either way. If nothing else, he felt that their connection would come with time. That would be true regardless of whether they had sex tonight. Damn it, why did everything have to be so complicated? Why couldn't this be - no. It was disrespectful to think of Serafina. He should not think of Serafina. This was Mariella: different, yes, but also enchanting and brilliant and deserving of romantic devotion.
He was still torn as he watched her pull the pins out of her hair, as he admired the cascading waves of shimmering gorgeousness. "You are beautiful," he commented, and of course he meant it, because she was beautiful.

"It's alright, it was nice to meet everyone officially I suppose." She said smiling as she looked over at Pietro. She wonder what he was thinking right now? If like her he was struggling with wanting to do the right thing and what his heart wanted. Well then he supposed that what his heart wanted he couldn't have, just like with her because what they both really wanted was not part of this world. She inhaled and looked down at the table which was now covered in hairpins as he told her she was beautiful and she smiled. "Thank you Pietro..."
She finally turned around and looked at him, inhaling and forcing a smile. The uncomfortable quietness that was hanging between them was just... it was.. awkward. Yes very awkward, she didn't know what she was suppose to say or do. Okay well she knew what she was suppose to do, after all she was smart and she was raised to know what to expect on her wedding night, but that was with someone else she had spent years with and loved with all her heart. But she did like Pietro, he was a good kind man, she could do this she knew what to do. She just had to get passed what she wanted, what she had always dream. Once she accepted that she would be able to do what she needed to do, she needed to consummate her marriage.
But... Pietro had to want to do it as well. Maybe she should ask first? Yes that seemed like the right thing to do.
She walked up to Pietro, eyes soft as she brushed back her hair. Her hands rested gently on his shoulders as she looked down and back up at him. "Don't feel like you have to take me tonight. Only if you want to because I do not want us to do something we are both not ready for."

Meeting her gaze, Pietro smiled. This was good, after all. She was good. They could - and, damn it, they would - be very happy together. She approached him, and he opened his arms for her, hands going to the small of her back to hold her close. He pressed a long kiss to her forehead, then lifted a hand to stroke her hair. It was like silk. Everything about her was breathtakingly gorgeous.
If only he could just stop being so sad.
"And here I was thinking the same thing," he offered with a soft smile. "Afraid of being brutish, or too aggressive. But your happiness must always come first." Unable to resist, the hand that had been in her hair drifted to her cheek, and Pietro leaned down to kiss Mariella, slowly and with great tenderness. His thumb traced a little circle against her skin.
"So, what would make you happiest tonight?"

Lips pressed against her's in what was a very tender kiss as she smiled softly and closed her eyes. Pietro asked what would make her happy and that... that was a very hard question because what would make her happiest she could never have again; her home, her Salvador, everything the way it was. But no that was gone and she knew that so now she had to just think of what would make her the happiest right now? And really it did come down to him taking her the way he was suppose to, because it was just what they were suppose to do and know that she was doing what her family and god expected of her was always good enough.
"Well I..." This seemed like a very inappropriate conversation to be having but an important one. Communication builds relationship does it not? "I want to be with you tonight but I understand if you are not ready." Because for all she knew Pietro wasn't willing to push his feeling aside yet to do what they needed to do which would be alright with her. After all he is her husband, her job is to make him happy. That's all.
"You're happiness is just as important as my own."
