Savino Adalbert Antonucchi
PERSONALITY Savino is considered by most who know him as an inspiring man, despite his youth. He has an uncanny ability to win the loyalties of those he works with, and is well known for his clever plans. He toes the line between obedience and disobedience carefully, always doing his best to achieve the outcome that he wants without causing an upset- though this has failed on a couple of disastrous, memorable occasions. Being isolated from both his birth and foster family has had a serious effect on Savino; he craves the affection of his superiors even if he would never show it to them openly. Everything he does is calculated, and no one has his absolute trust- the atmosphere fostered by the academy ensured that. He retains the sense of humour of his foster father, and still has a few fond memories of them that he treasures in private. Given the environment that he grew up in, Savino has never had any kind of romantic interaction with anyone; being leered at by the occasional out GI hardly counts. As a result, he has no idea how to act around women, and in fact has barely spoken to a dozen of them across his life. HISTORY A good deal of Savino’s personality can be attributed not to either of his biological parents, but the foster family that he lived with for the first five years of his life. He inherited his foster father’s sense of humour, and the air of determination that described the siblings that he knew. It was always clear to him that he was not one of them, much to his distress, and the occasional visits from his true father made him wish for it all the more. Enzo became more and more disappointed in the young Savino, until he turned five years of age and was torn from the home he had loved and sent to a military school. The school took the optimistic, practically disowned boy and turned him into as much of a soldier as they could. The determination was refined by discipline, his optimism became pragmatic. Savino showed a flair for tactics and strategy, and in the wake of losing countless men in the Great War, he rose rapidly through the ranks despite his age. The headmaster of the school recommended him to an officer’s position at age fifteen, and by sixteen he was coordinating American troops in Rhineland, Germany. His father speculated that he may have had some underlying magical talent after all, in his ability to achieve promotions and win the hearts of both his superiors and inferiors. Savino received a letter from his father in 1922, the first return message that he had ever received from the man in his life, telling him of the plight that was plaguing their family, of the O’Briens who had the gall to openly attack their allies and even a cousin he had never met. He was allowed to return to the United States and move into the army reserves indefinitely. Savino believes that a gift sent to his superior may have had something to do with the ease of the transfer, but he was also told that American occupation was soon to end anyway. Did you read the rules? Yeah! I did! A while ago. XD |
