After the incident in the thicket of the forest, Aedan had finally allowed her to leave, and it took everything within her not to completely take off into a full-sprint back towards the Academy the moment after she had bid him goodbye. Instead, she simply walked with poise and composure back up the hill and finally, out of his sight. Once sheknew she was in the clear, Hallie let all her built-up emotions spill over at once-confusion, anger, and fear filled her stomach like an empty, dry basin as her feet carried her involuntarily across another hill, and then down towards the crystal-blue waters of the lake. Normally, she would have insisted on being alone, but at this point, actually being by herself was both very unappealing and terrifying.
Her tears slid down to her chin, then fell off into the grass as her feet carried her towards one of the many docks of the lake. A boy sat near the edge of the scaffolding, and she immediately recognized him as her dear cousin. More tears formed in the brims of her eyes, and her cries turned into sobs as she attempted to catch her breathe. Once reaching the end of the dock, her hand slid against Theo's back, and she quickly sat down beside him, immediately wrapping an arm into one of his own, and her head found his shoulder. If only he knew what had just happened to her.

So he was going to hell. After a night of what seemed like perfect passion, Theo woke up the next morning feeling this overwhemling sense of guilt. He slept with another man, he had relations with another man. And while nothing else in this world had ever felt more right, Theo couldn't help but feel the knots twisting in his stomach at the thought of the moral sin that was left on his soul. Therews no coming back from this but really was that such a bad thing... Because now he had a little piece of Heaven on earth and a man that loved him. What was so wrong about that?
As he sat by the lake contemplating his life choices and reading, because that is what Theo does tks calm himself; he didn't notice the girl behind him until she had her arms around him. "Hallie?" He asked noticing her bloodshot eyes and her tears and his heart broke right down the middle. "Hey hey... What happen babydoll? Allies shush I'm right here its okay."

Hallie listened to his questions, but didn't respond; instead sniffling a bit, her eyes focused in the ripples in the water below the two of them. What in the world could she tell him? That she, a girl who had been raised in the most proper manner, was now being treated like a piece of trash? Oh, it was not only embarrassing, but it was unnerving. She didn't want Theo to thin of her as a fragile little China doll that would fall apart just by one single touch. No, she was more than that. She was more than a pretty little thing to keep up on a shelf. She was a person who deserved the same respect that she gave to others. However, she certainly east willing to demand respect from Aedan...especially after what had happened that evening.
Her breathing hitched in her throat and she pulled away to rub at her nose before finally building up the courage to speak. "I'm...in trouble," she told him honestly. "I'm in trouble and I have no way to get away from that trouble."

What the hell happen to her? He had never seen her this upset about anything before and it broke his heart really. Before he met Serafina Hallie was the one person he could go to for things. The only member of their family who didn't see him as a waste of good pureblood. Hallie never judged him once when he wanted to spend time with her, playing with dolls and doing her hair versus other things that young boys should be doing. She was always and forever his babydoll and he loved her like she was a sister. So to know that someone hurt her like this killed him inside. "Shush hey hey it's okay Hallie. I'm right here." he said again holding her tight and rubbing her back, every second she went without telling him what happen made his heart sink more and more.
"In trouble how?" he asked, the concern in his voice was very apparent. "Hallie, I can't help you if you don't tell me exactly what happen." He didn't really mean to sharpen his tone, but fuck she had him so worried. What did she do?

Was it possible to just melt away into the lake? Did she absolutely have to get up and leave here? How was she supposed to? Theo was truly and honestly the only good thing she had in her life, and if he would, she wanted nothing more than to just slip away with him. She had never been an advocate for running away from problems, but this problem was huge and Hallie just didn't have the slights idea of how to fix it. Perhaps, maybe...there was no fixing it. Maybe she was destined to be nothing more than a pretty, stupid little trophy. She wanted to vomit at the idea.
Her arms clasped tighter to Theo's, as if she was afraid of losing him in the impending darkness of growing nightfall. It took her another moment to speak, but when she did, she inhaled loudly before leaning upright, her gaze pointedly gazing at the ripples of the beneath them. "It's..." she paused hesitantly. "It's Aedan. He...hurt me today."

Theo sighed and ran his hand over his face. Yeah he knew this would be coming sooner or later. And as much as he wanted to be supportive and tell her that she didn't have to stand for it... Aedan came from the sort of family that valued traditions highly. One of those being that woman are pretty things that cook and clean and stay home to raise the children and don't talk back. The two of them had seen their father slap their mother's enough time to be aware of that. So as much as he wanted to just tell her that it would be okay he swallowed and said "What did you do?" Because at the end of the day she wouldn't have been hit if she didn't sass Aedan off which is probably what happen.
'Goddamnit Hallie,' He thought to himself 'If you learned your place this wouldn't have happen.' The woman does in a sense need to know her place. She will be well taken care off for the rest of her life if she doesn't take back, doesn't do crazy things. Though Hallie seemed to shaken it for it to just have been a simple slap across the face and the words shut up to leave Aedan's lips.

When would the tears stop? When would the worry stop? When would the pain stop? Even thought the red, splotchy mark from her face was gone, the feeling of being struck was still evident in her senses. Her hand reached up to pat the side of her cheek, and she sniffled again. If it weren't for Theo, she wasn't sure who she would have been able to turn to in the situation that she was in. Once he subtly confronted her about her actions however, Hallie pulled away slightly and frowned at him. Was he really insinuating that this was her fault?
With a light, hurt scoff, she eyed him in a confused manner, placing her hands on the tops of her thighs. "I just said a few things to him while Maureen was hospitalized. He was screaming in the infirmary...and he didn't think it was my place to do that."

He closed his eyes and sighed as he rubbed her back and bite his lip. What was with the woman in this family and speaking up? Why couldn't they just hold their tongues and learn their place it would make things a whole hell of alot easier. The last thing he needed was Hallie turning into his stepmom, getting the shit kicked out of her in front of the whole family if she got out of line. Of course his father was more of a hard ass than Aedan could ever be but still. "Hallie..." He said softly pulling away so he could look her in the eyes because this was serious and she needed to understand something.
"He's right, it's not your place to do that. It's not your place to ever speak unless you are spoken to. Aedan wants you to sit down, shut up and look pretty. And if you don't want him hurting you, do just that and you'll be fine. God forbid do you want to end up like my step mom? I mean you have seen the way he will treat her when she gets out of line." He shook his head and sighed some looking down because no it wasn't right but it was the world they lived in. And Hallie was raised to be a proper young lady and this is what they do, they do whatever their soon to be husbands ask of them. "Look I'll talk to Aedan because clearly he was too harsh with what he did but just please try not to run that mouth of yours anymore. And don't tell anyone else okay? Nothing makes a man more upset than a woman that tells on him."

Despite wanting to do everything Theo was telling her not to do, Hallie decided it was best for her to listen to him thoroughly and intently. She didn't like hearing it, but he was right. All her life, she had witnessed her mother and her aunt face punishment and scrutinizing at the hands of her father and her uncle. Her uncle was a bit rougher than her father, but then again, her father was hard and stern in his own way. Not only would he scold her mother, but he would scold her as well. He had raised her to be the most pristine, perfect little lady; and right then, she wondered about what her father would do if he gained knowledge of what her actions had be as of late.
With a sigh, she nodded slowly, then flipped a few strands of her red hair behind her shoulder. The last thing she wanted Theo to do was to suffer at her own hand and doing, and in response, she grasped his hand between two of her own and immediately looked him in the eyes.
"Theo, no," she pleaded with him, squeezing his hand ever so gently. "I don't want you to confront him about it. He'll hurt you. Don't worry about me...," she paused for a moment. "I won't be telling anyone...just," she exhaled loudly, "promise me you won't talk to him about it."

When she nodded he smiled softly and pressed a gentle kiss to her temple, there problem solved on her end for the most part. Still he didn't like how shaken up she was when she came to him. And even with Hallie begging him not to say anything he shook his head. "Hallie at the end of the day Aedan still seems like to sort of man you can talk to and reason with I'm sure coming from me of all people it will mean something more than if it came from anyone else. I will just remind him that excess force is not need and that you are a good proper woman okay." He brushed back her hair some and shook his head before standing up.
"Your hair's a mess and your makeup is all smudged. Come on let's go fix it." He said with a smile as he took her hand and started to make his way back up to the school. "Can't have you walking around looking like this now can we. You are the best reflection of my work even if people don't know it's my work." He said with a slight sigh and a shrug, now he was just trying to distract her from any bad thought she could be having."What do you think we should try with your hair this time? Something more modern and new?"

Hallie relished in the feeling of Theo's ability to comfort her in that moment. She wrapped her arms around his torso as he embraced her himself, only to pull away a a minute or two later. She feared for him, but if there was one thing she new about Theodore, it was that once his mind was made up, it was difficult to make him change his intentions. She didn't know Aedan at full capacity, but she hoped that somewhere inside of him, he would listen to Theo when approached by him. After all, Aedan wanted to be an adult, right? What better way to show maturity than to talk like an adult?
She laughed sadly as she watched him stand, then followed suit, rubbing off a bit of makeup onto her right hand. Theo was probably right-she probably did look like a mess. Squeezing his hand gently, both of them marched up the side of the hill, and Hallie ran a hand through her wild, unruly hair. "Something modern would be wonderful," she told him with a smile. "Just do what you do best."
