The dress is Chanel The shoes YSL The bag is Dior Agent Provocateur You know after the chaos that seemed to happen the last few days with the O'Brien family they needed a fun playful song and there was no one that did fun playful music like her and Knight. Sure she knew that he would be rather playing something a little less... campy. But the campy sexy stuff sells and then later in the night they could get them with smooth Jazz they both had a passion for. But for now it was her in a tiny little dress, dripping in jewels and standing behind night with her hands running over his chest and shoulders. She then moved to take a seat next to him.
My rings are by Webster it makes the heads twirl They all say, "Darling, what did you do for those pearls?" "What"?! I am a good girl
She batted her eyelashes and kissed Knight on the cheeks before getting up and doing the rest of their set. Yeah it was already great fun performing with Knight but this was better, The two of them at the bar, drinking and smoking after the show. And that was what she was looking forward to. Once they were done she rushed back to her dressing room and got changed. Meaning Knight back out on the fairly empty floor and smiling. "Well another great performance in the bag Knight. Care for a drink to celebrate, it's on me tonight." She said already getting a cigarette out of her bag and lighting it up with a snap of her fingers.

"Now Ana, when have you ever known me to refuse a drink?" Sure, she was showing off with that little display of wandless magic, but what kind of performer didn't show off when given the chance? He wouldn't hold it against anyone. A few good drinks might take their minds off of the atrocity that was so fresh in everyone's mind. He'd been in the bar, seen Finley faint, heard the girl's chilling words. That was a world that was far too real for him, too close to the line between life and death, and stakes that made gambling seem like a cautious man's game. He would have no part in such things, beyond the little bit of competitive money that it would earn him.
Knight took at seat at one of the many tables, forsaking the bar because it reminded him too much of the missing Finley, a hole in the scenery like someone had torn the wallpaper from one wall, and set it on fire. Okay, perhaps his metaphors weren't the best, but that's why he played music, and didn't even try to write stories. He trusted that Ana would bring him something good, or failing that, something strong.

"Nope.. Oh wait there was that one time you had the flu and I couldn't even get you to drink glengoolie blue scotch. You do realize it's like five dollars for a bottle of that stuff right?" She said laughing some before sighing a tad. It felt good to laugh, good to be silly and relax. After what had happen with Finn and his little sister... She just wanted to make everyone laugh. And while she never finished her education, Casade had a speical place in her heart and to think of all the evil that was happening there. She would take it down if it was the last thing she did, somehow some way. She looked back over at Knight and wonder how he was handling all these things? After all he wasn't one to deal in things that didn't have to do with Jazz and drink, the real world wasn't a thing to him.
She missed Fin more than she realized the second she moved to the bar to get drinks for them. But her was here he needed to be right now, with his little sister. She whiskey for them, strong and decent stuff really. "Okay there we go," She said as she sat down at the table and smiled some lifting up her glass some. "Hey Knight... to Finny. Because if he was here right now he would so be upset with me for taking my top off tonight, and he would always pour a little extra for us."

"That stuff is less alcohol, and more like what I imagine demons drink when they're feeling particularly evil!" He called to her as she moved to get drinks. Hopefully that wouldn't inspire her to buy more of the stuff, but that would involve her having to put it in her mouth too. Knight didn't think that she was quite that crazy, even if she did feel like getting drunk for no money at all. The events had reminded him how much of an outsider he was around here, he only knew of one person at the school and that was his errant cousin. And he barely knew Emyr, anyway. He had little emotional connection to it, or any of the things that had happened, but he was already putting down roots. Ana, Fin, Emyr, even Suki. They were all affected, and so was he.
"To Fin, who would secretly have enjoyed you taking your top off." Knight tapped his glass to Ana's and took a good sip in the bartender's honour. Neither of them could really drink to the sister, she was more an idea than a person to the both of them. The evening was always going to be a maudlin one, and he couldn't remember ever being maudlin around Ana. The two of them had only ever shared the music, not things beyond that.

"Whatever." She said rolling her eyes with a smile as she sipped her drink some more and laughed. "Oh my god I can fucking here him now. Being all 'blah blah blah respecte, blah blah blah proper woman. Then he get a blushy and go back to work." Man she really did miss him right now. But he was were he needed to be and she was sure he would be back soon. And then when he is she will make sure to get him smiling and get together a bunch of pretty little girly gifts for him to take to Maureen. That could be fun, and everyone needed more fun right... right... She sighed some and looked over at Finn with a soft smile. Fuck they had really stumbled into something fucked up, more fucked up than even she knew.
"You know I bet you it will go back to normal soon enough." Another drag off her cigarette and she smiled. "You and I both know that things don't stayed fucked up forever. Like remember when they were shutting all the bars down. And everyone was freaking out about what they were gonna do for work?" And now there were speakeasy... which were illegal as fuck and she was suppose to be helping to shut them down but... but well this one was different.

Knight laughed, loud and clear at everything she said. "Yes, definitely. And he'd refuse to meet my eyes for a good five minutes afterwards, all guilty and red-faced." How did someone become such a part of a place that it felt empty without them? Knight had played at hundreds of venues, but he'd never been around one particular place for long enough to find out its intricacies, or to learn how vital some people were to its functioning. It was almost as bad as if he came in one night to play, and Ana had flown the coop without so much as a word. Again.
"I'm not quite so convinced. Prohibition was a damn stupid move, but it wasn't... I don't know, evil. This is malicious, and there is a lot of bad feeling going around." Knight looked away, not entirely willing to face up to the unfortunate truth straight away. "Someone Fin loves was hurt, badly. That's not a man who could let that drop, not without getting even. There are disadvantages to knowing men of honour, and there's one of the big ones. This isn't over." He remembered the freaking out, but he also remembered getting in early and booking gigs in all kinds of places whose doors weren't about to be closed. The equivalent to that, here, would be getting the fuck out now. Before bodies really started falling.

Ana looked at Knight with a soft smile, it was nice in a way. That they had both found a place and people that they cared about which was weird. Knight was always a rolling stone and she was know to just sort of up and disappear when things got tend or it felt like the walls were about to fall down but this time neither of them really seemed like they were about to leave. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. What the fuck was she to do about this fucking mess.
"Yeah well..." She took another long sip and smiled some. "I'm not going to focus on any of the bad things. Not my style. So let's get drunk and think about all the good that is still left. Like that we have one of the most popular shows in town and Maureen and Fin will both be fine and everything will be back to normal." And she knew she was lying to herself but what else was she suppose to do? She got sick and tired of always being surrounded by the evils of this world. From fucked up gangsters, to corrupt cops, to revolutionaries who destroyed her home country and forced her family to flee. Sometime your just had to stay on the brighter side of life just for a little bit.

Knight decided not to pick at what she had said. No one could ever say that Anastasia Andrushkiv focussed on the bad things, and anyone could tell you that that particular attitude would inevitably be her downfall. He was at least a little surprised that it hadn't come back to bite her already, given the life she chose to lead. No one would ever be able to convince her of it, though, she would listen to herself alone, and damn the consequences. He quietly took another drink, hoping that alcohol might leach some of their fracturing reality away. It may yet come time to abandon Emyr and go back to New York, and forget about magic altogether. It's not like it had ever done him much good.
"To the one decent show around, of a total of three." He raised a glass, that the well-prepared waiter had already brought him, and took a sip. "And to Maureen's enduring health." Why did the dreary hardness of other people's reality always drip into his music, his life? All he wanted from this existence was to play, and drink, and relax in a vaguely musical haze. He didn't want any part in the complicated mess of relationships and heartache that plagued everyone he knew.

She smiled over at Knight and took another sip of her drink. Part of her felt like she knew what he was thinking, "Oh Ana... Come back to reality." But what happens when you hate your relaity? What happens when you wish you could run away, but you can't? Well Ana knew what she does, she focuses on anything that has a shed of positivity to it, and she clings onto it. Because at the end of the day, she a whore working for the police who might ruin the lives of everyone she loves, that is a enough negativity already.
"Cheers" She said taking another drink and smiling. "Hey so it might be a small market here but we are still the best." Sure its one this to be the best down in New York, another to be the best in a tiny little town. But hey they were working they brought in people and that is what matter.
"Hey so did you heard from your cousins?" She asked knowing that the boy would have been in school when this all happen. "He's okay right? Nothing happen to him?"

This, thought Knight, was the biggest problem with independent women. They were so wrapped up in their independence that you couldn't help them. That didn't make them any worse than most of the men he knew, but that didn't mean it wasn't something to lament. Instead, all he could do was sit here and pretend that everything wasn't falling to shit around them. Just like every other day, really. And it had taken so little time this time around. Usually he got a few months at least, incident-free.
He followed suit with the drink, and shook his head at her. "Little ball of optimism, you are. Someone's got to look at the bright side of life, I guess." Did that make him the cynic? The last thing he wanted to become was the embittered token Welshman of the scene. That was far too awful a fate to consider. And there was a chance that someone around here might have enough clout to actually reflect well on him back in the big leagues. A chance, little more.
"Not a word. Sometimes I am quite convinced he's forgotten I exist. We only spent half a week together, tops. He'll be fine. Or he won't, and someone will let me know." And now he was being the optimist. Or the apathist. Either way, it was good enough for him.

"Exactly, and you are a tall cool glass of cynicism I need to keep bring me down to earth." Because hey you can't have optimism without something cynical to pull it back down to earth. Otherwise it is just going to floats away and get's lost in a world that isn't real. And god know she did that for long enough, living life on cloud nine only to be slapped across the face with harsh reality. Then she met Knight who was always there to so of drag her back down to something for which she was forever grateful.
"Mhm yeah I kind of feel the same way about my family. I'll hear from them if something happens but the rest of the time it's like I don't exist." Probably because her mother wanted nothing to do with her and well... she didn't like to talk about her brother much so we will just leave it at that. At the end of the day she did sort of make herself out to be the black sheep of the family. So it made sense that they didn't want to talk to her. "But hey no news is good news." She said with a smile taking another sip of her drink and sighing some as she brushed back her hair some.

This conversation was beginning to get awkward. Knight had always been aware that Ana's involvement with the town was inevitably deeper than his own, she had been here for much longer than he had and her methods were rather different to his own. Knight wasn't sure that he'd ever been in a situation similar to this. Of course he'd dealt with jilted girlfriends and irked club owners, but an awkward conversation with a friend... that was blindingly new to him. "Can't say that's something I've heard often." In fact, most of the time he was the one accused of having his head in the clouds. What the hell was this place doing to him?
"It's hardly like we've been at all involved in each others lives. I doubt he knew my name before he got off the boat, if he even remembers it now." He didn't care all that much about Emyr, he was far more concerned about this horrible new Knight that was emerging. Where was the carefree musician going? Was he- heaven forbid- growing up? People has whispered horror stories of such things happening, drunkenly, at the end of the night. Knight blamed it on the kid, he'd been responsible for him for half a week and he'd started being responsible and shit. His life was over, it was all downhill from here. "No news is good news," he echoed.

"Well it's like... you are just as willing to live up in the clouds like me Knight but at the end of the day you are almost more willing to come back down to earth." At least that had just seemed to be the case as of late. Maybe it was the affect this place had on them, she was self destructing more and more, and he was possibly growing up. That was weird to think about, she could still remember meeting him. He was this handsome carefree piano player who didn't have a last name and knew just how to make her laugh. The one she was almost convinced she was going to sleep with then never did because she just loved all that carefree-ness about him, how he never told her to stop doing what she was doing even if he knew it was killing her inside.
She looked over at him and smiled softly before lightly hitting him in the shoulder. "Hey it's not a bad thing you know. Just means you're willing to live in the real world. That's good right?" Because at some point you have to face the real world, something she thought she did when she was much younger but apparently not...

"I haven't the foggiest clue what it is that's bringing me back." If he did, would he cut it loose so that he could drift away again? Did he want to? It was a much more terrifying possibility that not only was he growing up, but that he actually wanted to, in some small way. Whatever happened, at the very least he still felt absolutely no desire to ask anyone to start calling him Lawrence. It was a horrible name, no matter how grown up you were becoming. It belonged to some stuffy old scribe, or some English ponce with a silver spoon up his arse. Not to a Welsh jazz musician in America, that's for sure.
"I've been running away from the real world for quite a long time. I'm not sure I can quite cope with living in the real world. Or if I'd survive it." Certainly not if living in the real world meant waking up fifty years older with grandchildren that you could barely remember being born, and children that were starting to wrinkle themselves. That sounded like a horror, not to mention watching your fingers wrinkle, shrink, and seize up until he could no longer play the piano. Knight had always been determined never to make it to that point. The day he stopped being able to play was the day he stopped living. Anything after that was just a delay in getting around to it.

"Well if I had to guess." She said taking another long sip of her drink. "Something in your is telling you that you need to be ground for some reason. You are needed on earth for something." Or maybe they were both forever going to be lost up in the sky. Isn't that why they both picked music at the end of the day? It was always changing and always moving, and when you were performing and everyone is clapping for you it's like being in a dream and never having to wake up. Music was the best way to get away from reality and if Ana had to ever stop singing and dancing she didn't know what she would do.
"Ahhh you would probably survive it better than I can." She said with a smirk and another sip of her drink, eyes falling close at the familliar burn of liquor in her throat. "I mean after all, I was the one who disappears the second things get hard." Which is why it was odd that things were getting hard and she hadn't booked a trip to somewhere else. Maybe she was growing up as well... ugh. Not today though, no way she was growing up today so she down the rest of her drink and said. "Hey so... Music then? We haven't played anything in almost two hours." Even if the place was almost empty, it really didn't matter there was still time for a good show.
